Great teams are not hired, they are built.

And that building doesn't happen by accident. Just because you have assembled amazing talent does not guarantee that your team will be great. As the leader, you need to create an environment that encourages talented individuals to come together and work as a team.

Leaders have to make an intentional decision to build a team, and then act upon those decisions. Leaders grow individual talent into a great team through having in place policies, practices, procedures and protocols that encourage the person to give their best to the team.

Building a great team is an intentional act - it begins with recruiting, interviewing and hiring better, but it doesn't end there.
