Essential recruiting questions for 2023

A wave of layoffs. A possible recession looming. The world is about to show companies how good their recruiting process really is.

Companies will still need to hire great talent. However, people are going to be more cautious about changing jobs under the current condition, except if there’s trouble with their current employer.

How you recruit is about to become even more important to the bottom-line success of your organization.

  1. Do you have an understanding of what candidates think of how they are recruited by you?

  2. Do candidates feel that your recruiters understand the position you are looking for, and the qualifications that the position should require? In other words, does the job description reflect an understanding of what the position is or is it another “cut & paste” listing?

  3. How communicative is your recruitment team, does it stay in touch with candidates, letting them know where in the process they are? How easy is it for a candidate to get in touch with a person for questions or concerns?

  4. What kind of workload are your recruiters handling, do they have the time to and bandwidth to properly find and vet candidates? How many open positions does your organization have, and what is the average number of open positions does each member of your recruitment team handle?

How you answer these questions will help to determine what the recruitment experience is for potential candidates.

During lean times, companies that value recruitment become evident. Yes, everyone is going to struggle but those with a better recruitment process struggle less.

“Adversity does not build character, it reveals it.” – James Lane Allen
